My First Review: Boojiboo

I love baking and cooking and I get a tingle of excitement everytime a birthday or special occasion rolls around because that means that I get to bake a cake or cupcakes! When I cook, things can get messy and I find that if I don’t wear an apron, my clothes will become covered with a lot of the ingredients. Now usually I would just whip on any old apron, which I would quickly have to take off when guests would come because the aprons are anything but chic, but thankfully Boojiboo has come to my rescue!

( The CHLOE: AMY BUTLER Pink Deco Rose Full Apron)

(The Sophia: Black and White Damask Half Apron. Love the heart pocket!!)

Boojiboo is a mother and her two daughter operation that specializes in making amazing retro aprons that are not only stylish but fully functional. Not only does she make aprons for grown-ups but she has matching aprons for your little ones so you can bake and cook in style While their specialty is aprons that is not all they sell because they sell drink coaster and tea towels as well. When she approached me, wondering if I would want to do a review and giveaway, I jumped on the chance! After spending a long and difficult time thinking about what apron to choose to do my review on I finally chose The BELLA Vintage Inspired Pink Lotus Water Lily Full Apron!

(The BELLA: Vintage Inspired Springtime Cuties in Pink and Brown Full Apron)

(Look at all the amazing details in the pocket! That's the quality you can expect from Boojiboo's aprons!)

When I got the apron I put it on right away and was really impressed not only by the quality and design but just how chic it looked! When my sister first saw it she actually thought that it was a new dress that I had bought and was shocked when I informed her that it was actually an apron! I love how there is a pocket in front so that I can store different utensils and that it is a nice contrast to the dress! I loved how the apron fit and that there were ties for around the neck and around the waist that nicely contrasted the fabric of the apron and allowed for the apron to be adjusted to the wearer’s preference. The details that are put in this apron are amazing and how the top part of the apron is tight fitting and streamlined, how there is a very flattering sweetheart neckline and the apron then flows down into a flowy skirt.
(The sweet Pink Cupcake Apron perfect for your little helper)

If you want to get one of these amazing aprons head on over to Boojiboo! They are so affordable for only $28.75 for the apron that I received. I love the selection of different fabrics and styles that are offered and trust me with 5,105 sales these aprons sell like hotcakes! And if you have your eye on a certain apron in a certain fabric act fast because sometimes they only have a limited amount of aprons in certain fabrics, and you might be disappointed if you don’t get the fabric you love! Since mother day is coming up a Boojiboo apron would definetly be on top of my “Best Gifts for Mom’s” list! And I have great news, Boojiboo has kindly offered my readers an apron of their choice as a giveaway so look out for that in the upcoming weeks!!

(The MAGGIE: Black Tweet Tweet Bird Full Apron. Love the cute bow!!!)

Boojiboo gets a five star rating!

Trudie Davies Designs: Interview and Giveaway!

Today’s interview and giveaway comes all the way from Down Under: Australia! Trudie Davies is an Etsy seller that specializes in making classic designs with a twist! She uses Sterling Silver in all of her designs and incorporates hints of copper and brass as well as
gemstones. Knowing that she uses such quality materials in all of her designs you know that they will be sturdy and long lasting no matter how much you may bang it up! Trudie’s designs are very versatile because not only are they a great everyday jeans and t-shirt jewellery but you can add on some bling to spice it up for special occasions or a night on the town! I think my favourite pieces would have to be any of her designs involving the sweet little tweety birds! I also love her customized name pendent....very Carrie! I also love how she photographs all her jewellry! Very pretty!

All her jewellery comes ready to give to a special loved one! And shipping is pretty cheap considering her goodies come all the way from Australia only $2.50 if you live in Australia and $3.75 for everywhere else!

Here are the interview questions:

Name: Trudie Davies
Name of shop:www.trudiedavies.etsy.com
Location: Melbourne, Australia.

Favourite item from your shop: The 12 skinny hammered stack rings.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am a mom of an 18 year old girl who has just left home to go to college to do Law and Science. I also have an 11year old boy who is still in primary school. The kids are great and keep my husband and I busy. I work for The Age Newspaper, our daily metro paper. I went to art school many years ago. That is where I learnt silver-smithing and jewellery making skills. I loved that time and received distinctions for my jewellery work. I then went on to have my family and am really enjoying life now cause I can go back and do what I love doing. It really is so exciting to be making jewellery and running my small etsy business.

When and what made you want to open up your shop?
When I came across Etsy, I was real excited because for one there was an opportunity to move out items that I created. It is no point of making things if you can't off load them. I only have so many fingers, toes etc. Also the silver merchants can get real expensive! So etsy
has been a low cost real great opportunity for me to get into.

Tell us a little bit more about your creation process:
Well as well as make jewellery I am a painter. Both with jewellery and painting I seem to conjure up designs in my mind. With jewellery I then have to work out the functionality of the design. Jewellery needs to be functional with great design. Over time I have just made
jewellery pieces that take my fancy. It is now that I am starting to develop a style. This is not evident in the trudiedavies store as yet. It is possible that I will need to open a new shop just to showcase this new style that is emerging from me. That will all be in the future....waiting to happen. This new style is one that is based on silver work and blue and green colour stones. I love blues and greens.

Where do you draw inspiration for all your amazing designs?
A lot of my work draws inspiration from the geometric shapes, blues, greens, images and beauty in design. I just do what I want and what takes my fancy.
If you could be an animal what would you be and why?
An Elephant cause they are so cool.

If you could have one super power what would it be and why?
Thats a hard one! To be a Movie Star and live in Malibu! Oh well not this time around ........HaHa! Maybe just live as a 30 yr old forever and ever cause the thought of old age is starting to scare me! Or solve all the problems of poverty, starvation, exploitation and crime in one foul swoop! Oh and not to mention climate change! I don’t know something like that!

Kiss My Face: Giveaway!

Ahha as much as I love kisses, I'm pretty sure you can't recieve any through a computer screen so I guess I'll just have to find them from somewhere else. Although you might want to kiss me once you find out about this contest! She Breaths is giving away a complete Kiss My Face Potent & Pure Organic Facial Care Line which is 13 amazing products in total! And this giveaway is valued at over $200!! The products are formulated with organic and natural ingredients and I’m particularly fond of the Exfoliating Face Wash. It works to refine the skin while removing dead skin cells. And just so you know, exfoliation is key for oily skin types. It helps to keep skin free of dirt and oil that might otherwise clog pores, possibly resulting in blemishes.

I recently won the whole line of Kiss my Face Lip Shines and I loved the colour and the smell of it, although my boyfriend hated it because of sparkles, and lets just say we had a bad sparkle incident that shall remain untold.

The best thing is that there are only 16 entries for this amazing giveaway so that means that there is an amazing possibility that you could win! But sadly only open to US residents!! Big BOOO!! This giveaway ends on April 22nd at 11:59 est! So enter now! And if you happen to do win let me know! =)

Bow Me Over Bows: Interview and Giveaway! (CLOSED)

If you ever need to find adorable bows and hair accessories for your daughter look no further than Bow Me Over Bows. This Etsy shop created by Michele Evans has the most adorable selection of bows you can possibly imagine! I love how she has special themed bows that can go well for any occasion or holiday. The great thing about her bows are they are well crafted but so affordable! When I first saw her bows I thought that they worth a lot because of the small details, but the most expensive bow in Bow Me Over Bows will only set you back ten dollars but the majority of the bows are a reasonable six dollars!!! What a great deal! At these great prices you can stock up!

Here is Michele’s interview:

Name~
Michele Evans
Name of Shop~
Bow Me Over Bows
Location~
Plainfield, Illinois

Favorite item from your shop~

I really love everything I create! Actually I've been known to "throw away" anything that I don't like! Well, actually that only happened once! I must have been having a bad "creative" day! I do have to say though that I am really fond of my bitty bows because the total design started after a request for a "smaller" version of my boutique style bow! I also like my Swarvoski bows, working with the crystals inspires me to make "princess like" pieces!

Tell us a little about yourself~

I'm a stay at home mom, happily married for 10 years with two little girls, one who is 7 and the other who is 3. I have a degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University and I taught kindergarten for 7 years before I decided to stay at home with my girls. I've never really had a hard time coming up with creative ideas, I guess that's just the teacher in me, but I never would've thought I'd be making little girl hair bows let alone opening up my own shop on Etsy!

When and what made you want to open your shop~

It all started on day back in August 2008, when I was recruited to make hair bows for my daughter's cheerleading squad. Well, I started researching how to make hair bows on the web, and before you knew it I made my first bow! Well, I thought "That was fun! I'll make another!", and so I made my girls Halloween hair bows, and I haven't stopped making bows since! My loving, very supportive husband even constructed a device to help me hold my ribbon together while tying off each layer for the bow! But don't ask me to see pictures of that, it's a secret! Maybe we'll patent it someday! :)

Tell us a little bit about your creation process~

Well, obviously you can already tell that I LOVE making hairbows! I buy all of my ribbon and embellishments personally and in small amounts to keep a constantly changing inventory! I love to mix and match colors, patterns and prints to come up with the beautiful bows you see in my store! I am a PERFECTIONIST, and all of my products are made with great care and lots of attention to ensure they last and stay beautiful! I've been know to toss one of my girls hair bows in my purse when they decide they may not want to wear it anymore (this is usually my 3 year old) and with minimal refluffing it looks great! Someone who has one of my hairbows even told me that the bow even "accidently" went through the washer and dryer, and all she had to do was reglue the embellishment on and a little refluffing! I actually got the chance to see the bow afterward and was SHOCKED at what it went through, and how GOOD it still looked! That was an awful lot for a little bow to go through though, and I DEFINATELY would NOT recommend it!!! Anyway, when you purchase a hairbow from Bow Me Over Bows rest assured that all the ends of the ribbons used are "heat sealed" and all clippies and bitty bows include a "no slip grip", and all products are made in my "smoke free" home! I gurantee that I will never send out anything that does not meet my high standards!

Where do you draw inspiration for your amazing designs?~

Well, I actually just shop for ribbon and embellishments that I love, and then when I come home I spread everything out and mix and match until I come up with exactly the combination that I like best! Most of the time the creative process happens over a couple of days, I go though all my ribbons and embellishments and decide what few combinations I want to make pairing them up, and then I make the bows later! This way each step gets my "fresh, creative mind"! I can't tell you enough how much I love both parts of the process, picking out the ribbon and embellishments and then the actual construction of the bow, because then I finally get to see what my creative ideas look like completed!

If you could be an animal what would you be and why?

This is a tricky question! I would have to say a kangaroo, because then I could "hop" around quickly doing all the things that I get done during the day!

If you could have a super power what would it be and why?

Well, this question is easy! I would love to have the power to grant myself more hours in the day, without feeling tired, to get all the things done that I WANT and NEED to get done! I would name myself "The Fall Girl"! (Get it? Fall back in time so I can get more done!) :)
