Boojiboo: Review and Giveaway!

Are you a domestic goddess? If so Boojiboo aprons are for you….but what if your kitchen style is more take-out than cook-off? Boojiboo aprons are still for you too! No matter how you look at it Boojiboo aprons are great in the kitchen as well as out of it. Put it over your dress when you entertain and serve your guests or even just around the house when you clean! Seriously when you wear an amazing Boojiboo original creation there is no way you can go back to the simple old aprons that make you look like a giant marshmallow!

The Review:

As you may know, Boojiboo was my first product review and I was so excited! Boojiboo is a mother and her two daughter operation that specializes in making amazing retro aprons that are not only stylish but fully functional. Not only does she make aprons for grown-ups but she has matching aprons for your little ones so you can bake and cook in style While their specialty is aprons that is not all they sell because they sell drink coaster and tea towels as well. When she approached me, wondering if I would want to do a review and giveaway, I jumped on the chance! After spending a long and difficult time thinking about what apron to choose to do my review on I finally chose The BELLA Vintage Inspired Pink Lotus Water Lily Full Apron!

When I got the apron I put it on right away and was really impressed not only by the quality and design but just how chic it looked! When my sister first saw it she actually thought that it was a new dress that I had bought and was shocked when I informed her that it was actually an apron! I love how there is a pocket in front so that I can store different utensils and that it is a nice contrast to the dress! I loved how the apron fit and that there were ties for around the neck and around the waist that nicely contrasted the fabric of the apron and allowed for the apron to be adjusted to the wearer’s preference. The details that are put in this apron are amazing and how the top part of the apron is tight fitting and streamlined, how there is a very flattering sweetheart neckline and the apron then flows down into a flowy skirt.

If you want to get one of these amazing aprons head on over to Boojiboo! They are so affordable for only $28.75 for the apron that I received. I love the selection of different fabrics and styles that are offered and trust me with 5,105 sales these aprons sell like hotcakes! And if you have your eye on a certain apron in a certain fabric act fast because sometimes they only have a limited amount of aprons in certain fabrics, and you might be disappointed if you don’t get the fabric you love!

The Interview:

Lets get to know a little bit more about the talented designer behind Boojiboo! Here is her interview:

Favourite item from your shop: My favorite item would have to be the BELLA apron in the Canary Birdseed fabric, the birdies are just too cute, and the Bella is my favorite apron style.

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I'm a Mother to four kids, two boys and two girls. Besides sewing, knitting and crocheting are my favorite hobbies! I'm a grandma as well, but I have 'granddogs' (two boxers, Maggie and Stinky!) rather than grandkids. They keep me company while the kids are at work and school.

When and what made you want to open up your shop? I've always loved creating things, ever since I was a little girl. I would stay up for hours embroidering/hand-sewing pieces of fabric together. It was therapeautic for me, and I could always feel accomplished because I was able to make something myself. After I got married and the kids grew up, I had more time to myself and decided to pick up my hobbies again. When I realized I could make money doing what I love, Boojiboo started!

Creation process: We don't make one apron at a time, on average about 50-60 a week. I will spend 1-2 days cutting all the fabric, 3-4 days of non-stop sewing, and then 1-2 days of ironing, folding, and packing the aprons. Sometimes it's a little less, sometimes a little more, it all depends on how many I need to cut, which styles I need more of, and how many custom orders I may have.

Where do you draw inspiration for all your amazing designs?
I've always had a love for vintage things. I would dream of living in the 50's and 60's, everything was so glamorous back then! When i think "retro", flirty skirts and hour glass figures co me to mind, I think that is emphasized in our Bella apron. My daughters also have a say in the overall design of an apron, and ultimately give the 'yay' or 'nay'. They sort of guarantee the aprons will appeal to all generations and not just mine.

If you could be an animal what would you be and why?
I think I'd like to be a dog. But not any dog, I want to be one of Oprah's dogs. They must live a life of luxury!

If you could have one super power what would it be and why?I would like to have the ability to fly. It would be so much quicker to travel, and much cheaper, too :)

Tiny Tokens Designs: Interview and Giveaway!!

I love the handstamped jewelry that is out there and Tiny Tokens Designs is an amazing shop on etsy that specializes in handcrafted, hand stamped artisan jewelry. The designer Sandi Bahr creates her designs using sterling silver, freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals and semi-precious gemstones. Her goal is to ensure that she creates quality jewelry that you will always treasure.

I love it how Sandi offers free adjustments to all her necklaces and bracelets because I have such small wrists and hands that most conventional bracelets don’t fit and fall off me. Sandi is more than willing to work alongside you in order to ensure that your dream creation will become a reality and there are many ways in which you can customize each piece to your own liking. I love how that each letter is hand-stamped so you never get the same look and each design is unique and special. Sandi prides herself on getting her items made and within the mail within two days and if there is a delay of more than three days she will e-mail you to inform you of the slight delay! Now that is what I call great customer service! She believes that if the buyer took the time to look at my items and buy from her why can’t she take the time to make them their item as soon as possible? Glad to know she’s not the type that will make you wait for 2-3 weeks!

I really love the necklaces that have a special saying and that have a special little charm that corresponds to the saying. For example the Key to My Heart Necklace has a key and a heart along with the tag that you personalize!

I have a few, the dandelion necklace, circle of names and the couples necklace.

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I am a stay at home mom with three children ages 21, 9, and 7. I have always been a very creative person and always wanting to try new things. I have been beading almost my entire life, I guess since the first time my mom took me into Beadazzled in the mall when I was a kid.

When and what made you want to open up your shop?

I had been selling on eBay for about three years and I grew very tired of the auction environment.

Tell us a little bit more about your creation process:

I decide on a design, figure how it will be laid out on the metal that I am using. I then stamp the metal with steel letters or designs, oxidize it with an oxidation solution, buff and polish and then assemble the piece of jewelry.

Where do you draw inspiration for all your amazing designs? From my family and nature.

If you could be an animal what would you be and why?

A cat because they always look very confidant and independent.

If you could have one super power what would it be and why?

To turn back time so that I can finish all of my half done projects, fix the mistakes that I have made.

The Worst Experience Ever!

(Poor kid just found out about the joys he will face in the dentist's chair)

Uggh I'm in pain! I just got my wisdom tooth taken out yesterday and let me just say it is an experience I never want to go through ever again! I didn't get put under which was my number one mistake and instead I got localized shot. I seriously should have closed my eyes because when I saw the size of the needle I wanted to freak out! The dentist told me to relax but I couldn't....I mean the needle was the size of half of my arm! The pulling of the tooth part was so sureal because I couldn't feel anything....but I could hear everything....like the drilling since he had to break the tooth apart because it refused to come out and finally the loud cracking sound when my stubborn tooth finally decided to come out!

But I must say there were funny parts to my experience, I loved the cool feeling of not being able to feel my face and it lead to many interesting experiences! I usually don't look at a mirror when I put on my lip gloss....BIG mistake! I couldn't feel my face and I ended up smearing lip gloss all over my face without noticing it! And I walked around for the longest time! And since I couldn't feel my face I didn't even notice that I was drooling! =( and when my boyfriend called me that night he made me laugh and I had so much spit in my mouth it flew everywhere....so I decided to sleep with a towel. Sorry if that was TMI!

So note to everyone, get put under if you pull your teeth.....because I still have the hibbie jibbies just thinking about it =(
