Why don't we get to know Rosemary a bit better with her in depth interview?
Name of shop: Clutch That!
Favourite item from your shop: My favorite would have to be the Silk Brocade Peacock Feathers Luxury Clutch Bag
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I'm a wife and mother of 7 children ranging in age from 5 to 35 years. I learned to sew as a young girl watching my mother sew clothing for my siblings and I. I was fascinated by it and absorbed as much as I could. I watched everything she did and asked lots of questions. She gave me my own sewing machine and a huge box of fabrics and supplies when I was 12. I was in my element and spent every spare minute sewing. I put what I had learned to use when I was 14 and secured a summer job with a small family run garment manufacturing company where my mother worked. I was making all of my own clothing by then and began making handbags, many many handbags.
What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?
I have spent a great deal of my adult life as a foster parent to severely medically fragile infants and children. I was lucky enough to have been able to adopt 5 of these children over the years. A few years ago I was named Foster Parent of the Year for my district. That was a rather proud moment for my family and I.
When and what made you want to open up your shop?
I love designing and making clutches but couldn't justify making them for myself since I have so many already. I saw a way to be able to create what I love and share it with others.
Tell us a little bit more about your creation process:
It begins with sourcing high quality materials. I spend a great deal of time doing that since that is the most important aspect of creating a quality clutch. I want each one to be both beautiful and durable and I consider that with each element I use.
Where do you draw inspiration for all your amazing designs?
I draw inspiration from current fashion and wedding trends and the colors in nature.
If you could be an animal what would you be and why?
LOL, judging by my shop I would have to say a Peacock. I love them because they have such beautiful and vibrant colors.
If you could have one super power what would it be and why?
I would take a snapshot of what I see in my mind. Many times I have an idea for a design and I see it clearly in my mind's eye. I sometimes forget to sketch it and it's soon forgotten
As you can tell Rosemary isn't just a super talented designer, but she has an amazingly huge heart as well! Her children are so lucky to have her and she so deserves to be named Foster Mother of the Year!
I was beyond excited that I had the chance to review one of Rosemary's clutches, I mean look at them they are so gorgeous!!!! It was such a difficult decision because I loved every single design! I was torn over so many designs but in the end I decided to go with The Peacock Silk Clutch Purse Large Size Peacock Splendor! I know that I need lots of room in order to store my stuff so I thought that this would be the perfect size. And Rosemary was extremely helpful in suggesting that a certain dimension looked better, and I decided to go with her advice because she is the designer after all.
The clutch I got to review...don't worry it looks like there is a crease in the material but it was just the way in which the flash hit it!
Shipping did not take as long as I expected because things always takes a while to ship to Canada! When I opened the box I was so delighted at the presentation! The clutch was carefully wrapped and nestled in tissue paper and was also stuffed with tissue paper so that it would maintain it's shape. The clutch looks so much more beautifull in real life and it has such an amazing sheen and shine to it! It also looks so professional because her seams line up perfectly with one another and the way that the frame is attatched to the fabric is flawless! I also like how she reinforces her seams because it makes the clutch as strong as it is beautiful.
Close up of the fabric and the peacock feather embroidery
The clutch is made of an amazing silk brocade and is embroidered with amazing details! I love how the teal background perfectly offsets the bright metallics of the peacock feathers. The feathers are amazing because depending on how the light hits it, the feathers can change from gold to silver in appearance! The brocade is nice and thick and you can tell that it is of very nice quality and it seems as though it is snagproof, which is always a big worry of mine with silk!
The inside of the clutch is lined with an amazing cream satin and a tag rests on the bottom so that you know that it is a genuine Clutch That! Original Design. Rosemary has also made this clutch super durable by layering a heavy stablilizer and hypo-allegenic batting between the silk brocade and the satin which helps to give the clutch structure so that it won't sag or be slouchy and keep its shape and it will be soft when you hold it. My clutch has a shiny silver frame but it can also be made in an antique brass frame as well!
Thankfully the clutch arrived when it did because I had a friends birthday party that night, and it was the perfect venue to showcase my amazing clutch! All of my friends loved it and loved how soft it was and was surprised that it was able to fit my stuff! I managed to put quite a bit in the clutch including: two lip glosses, an eyeliner pot, my wallet, my cell phone and my keys! There was still some room left after so this clutch is definitely roomy! I totatally love this clutch so much that I have taken it out with me to all of the parties and events that I have attended!
