Book Review! 101 Things I Learned in Business School

From just graduating from Business School I was really interested in order to see just how well this book synced up to the things that I actually learned while I was in business school. 101 Things I Learned in Business School is a great book that is jam packed with relevant and thought provoking ideas about business that anyone can apply to real life.

From the Publisher:
101 THINGS I LEARNED IN BUSINESS SCHOOL will cover a wide range of lessons that are basic enough for the novice business student as well as inspiring to the experienced practitioner.

The unique packaging of this book will attract people of all ages who have always wondered whether business school would be a smart career choice for them. Judging by the growing number of people taking the GMATs (the entrance exam for business school) each year, clearly more people than ever are thinking about heading in this direction.

Subjects include accounting, finance, marketing, management, leadership, human relations, and much more - in short, everything one would expect to encounter in business school.

Illustrated in the same fun, gift book format as 101 THINGS I LEARNED IN ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL, this will be the perfect gift for a recent college or high school grad, or even for someone already well-versed in the business world.

My Review:

I really enjoyed reading this book and found that there were a lot of great ideas that I did remember from classes that I have taken. The book has amazing illustrations and graphs and tables that correspond to each topic and as a result you can actually follow along if you are not familiar with some items.

The terms and items that they go over are easy to understand and I can see that if you used some of these methods it could help you in the business world. Some of the great concepts that they go over are:

  • Different type of Business Ownership: Sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, etc
  • Differences between stocks and bonds
  • Three ways to grow a business
  • Managers should have no more than six to eight workers reporting to them
  • All you would want to know about accounting
  • Going green=making more green!
and so much more!

You can check out the other available 101 Things I Learned books and you can even submit a topic idea or apply to be an author candidate!! Who knows your name might appear beside the next 101 Things I Learned Series!
